Smart Export Guarantee (SEG)

You’re not obliged to sell your excess electricity to the same company that supplies you, which means you can shop around for the best deal.

Smart Export Guarantee (SEG)

The Smart Export Guarantee (SEG) enables small-scale generators to receive payments from electricity suppliers for electricity which they export back to the National Grid, providing certain criteria are met.

Solar power generation of up to 5MW is eligible, which is more than enough for any household or indeed most business.

In order to receive payments, you must go into contract with an SEG licensee, but what’s great is that it doesn’t need to be the same company as your current energy supplier, so you can shop around for the best deal.
